coriander seeds ----- 1 tab sp
cumin seeds --- 2 tea sp
Urad dal --- 1 tea sp
Green chilies ---- 6 no.(if you like more spice can add 10 green chilies)
Tamarind ---- 1 inch pieces --2no.
Salt to taste
Oil --- 1 tab sp
Heat oil in a pan add coriander seeds and urad dal and fry for 3 min and then add green chilies and cumin seeds and fry till light brown color, remove and keep a side.
Now add ivy gourd pieces to the same oil and fry till cooked and light brown color add salt to taste and tamarind pieces cover with alid and switch off the heat and leave for 5 min.
then griend ivy gourd pieces and coriander and chilies mixture in to a coarse paste
Serve with dosa, idli or with hot rice with a drop of ghee
I make kovakkai chutney with coconut. Yours sounds an authentic andhra recipe. Shall try your version.

ReplyDeleteI have never tried many chutney's..This one looks thick n rich..I remember my friend's mom used to make variety chutney's of veggies with Dosa's..:)

hey guys ill tell u one secret about dondakaya, its an anti allergic vegetable so, its really good to eat dondakaya in this way, who all hate to touch dandakaya curry.... because its good for health.... and im dam sure people will love eating like this type of pachadi , made of dondakaya,,,,,,
